2014 - So, what are/were your New Year Resolutions?
Lose weight?
Get fit?
Drink less?
Give up smoking?
Ohh we are all sinners according to our resolution lists, and as we are told, most things are OK in moderation. Do we really need to waste so much of our time trying to improve ourselves and our lifestyles? Compare ourselves to our peers, neighbours, friends, family? Maybe we should concentrate on being happy! My recommendations for easy resolutions that hopefully you can keep all year
OK maybe we need to lose a few pounds, but is it really worth going to the extreme of starving yourself, only to end up craving foods that are deemed bad for you? Simply cutting back on fatty/sugary foods will aid with weight loss.
We all know that we need to exercise more, but a monthly membership at the gym will only increase your monthly out goings, not necessarily decrease your waist line, but taking a good walk a couple of times a week will help you lose weight and improve your heart. You may also get to know some of your local beauty spots and beaches, most of which are free of charge.
Yes....most of us drink too much and especially in the weeks that have just passed. OK, so now you have admitted to over doing the alcohol consumption just rectify it by introducing nice non alcoholic cocktails for your Saturday night. Try a nice hot chocolate with marshmallow and cream topping - OK still not good for calories, but will still be better for you than alcohol. Plus you will only drink one hot chocolate drink....unlike alcohol, when one drink inadvertently always leads to another.
Give up smoking - as a non smoker I cannot comment on this but would like to say I know more and more people who are giving up for various reasons, each one has benefited massively in one way or another, and there is so much help out there now....go on, you never know if you can do it or not until you try.
So, here`s to a Healthy Happy 2014 to you all, and don't be too hard on those resolutions ....like rules, they are almost, certainly there to be broken!
Take Care
